The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office announced shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23 that the agency was conducting an investigation into a shooting in the 700 block of West Church Street in Sterling.
Officials said that the victim was located near the area of the reported shooting and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment of what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
There is expected to be a heavy police presence in the area, according to the agency.
A stretch of West Church Road near Southbound West Holly Avenue was closed on Tuesday afternoon as the sheriff's office investigated the shooting.
No other information was initially provided by investigators.
